not camping

I think this was a successful weekend, despite the rain and not going camping. We decided on Sabbath morning that we should just drive down to Fort Mountain, GA to eat lunch and hike around. Driving up the mountain, we stopped at a beautiful overlook because of a suspicious burning smell coming from the Heilman's Malibu. We all shed our sweatshirts and looked down on the mountains and clouds below and were glad we had left rainy, cold Collegedale.

We kept driving and ended up inside one of the clouds. It was pretty cold and damp. We welcomed the warm beans on our haystacks!

After we ate, I attempted to steal (borrow) a paddleboat, but MJ said she would tell on me. We hiked all the way around the lake then drove up to the trail to the "fort," which proved to be nothing more than stone tower with about a 10' x 10' base.

The overlook, on the other hand, was much cooler. We were worried that we wouldn't see anything because of the clouds, but we could see pretty far. There was a thick layer of gray clouds above us and as we stood there, more clouds blew in until we were surrounded again.

I fell asleep about 20 minutes into the drive back and woke up in the Heilmans' driveway. We vegitated in the house until about 1 hour before sundown, then went outside and started a bonfire with a propane torch. Roasted hotdogs, baked beans, chips, and marshmallows filled us up for the evening. Our entertainment after that was watching the Astros beat the Braves to win game 3 of their series.

Jaclyn, Stephanie, and I camped in the living room.

Today involved a pancake breakfast, a game of Clue (that MJ lost!), homework, a 18-inning baseball game, Taco Bell, a symphony concert, and more homework.

That's it . . . back to chaos!
