yay! the weekend!

Um . . . I don't even remember what happened at school this week. It's funny though how a week that is the full length (5 work days) can seem shorter than a week with 4 days. We have kids out with strep infections and headlice and all the fun things that happen when you pack so many people into a building. This week: name-calling, kids smashing other kids' heads into walls, spitting, bullying, and kids trying to EAT lab supplies! I'll never understand 12-year-olds.

A fun thing that happened this week was letting the kids build circuits with kits for class. Some of the kids who usually don't really care what's going on had fun and got really interested in buiding them.

I'm going to try to either check out a digital camera or take some pictures with my SLR at school and put them up here. I wonder if that's illegal???

I'm trying to decide whether I have enough energy to go skating tonight at 11:30p.

survived another evaluation

Dr. Colon tries her best to be scary, but she's really not. She came today for an observation, but I wasn't nervous. Even though she came during the class with the not-so-good kids in it. Other people have a worse time. I feel bad for the PE majors who have never really been on this planet with the rest of us anyway . . .

Well, my bagel's done. I'm eating my second meal of the day. Lunch is at 10:30a every day, then I eat again whenever. Good thing Little Debbies are part of a balanced diet (if you have one in each hand).

new appreciation for Fridays

This week seemed SOOOO long. That's really sad considering that I didn't have to go to school on Monday so we had a four-day week. I think it's because I haven't felt good all week. Jaclyn's been sick since she came back from DEEP, so I've been avoiding her so I don't catch what she has. No thanks, I don't want to hack up green stuff (no offense).

So I tried to put a Weather thing in my sidebar, but it doesn't look right. I don't know if the problem is theirs or mine. The mysteries of html . . .

blizzard! well, not really

It's practically a blizzard in Happy Valley today (that means we're getting flurries). While snow of any kind is unusual here, it's even weirder today to have frozen precipitation because just two days ago, the high was around 70 degrees F. Strange.

I'm all alone here on this nice long weekend. Jaclyn abandoned me to go to Cohutta for the DEEP retreat with Oakwood College. I don't know what possessed her to go since she's never shown any interest before.

Well, my life is all about 6th grade science now. I started student teaching this week at Ooltewah Middle School, which is just over the hill from Southern. I have about 110 students and teach the same lesson 5 times a day. The worst part so far is getting up in time to be at school by 6:30a. Other than that, it's not too bad yet.

In other news, we're all still waiting for the news from MI that Heather & Jason's baby is born. He/she was due on the 11th and still hasn't arrived.

Anywho, I'm going to put on some wool socks and head outside.

pictures

Ok, it's working! You'll just have to imagine the room without blue masking tape on the window and with some nice curtains that match the quilt my mom's making. This wall is the one we pretty much rebuilt after we discovered ants and water damage under the paneling. My dad even had to make a new windowsill. The tape is still on the window because the latex KILZ didn't work. The stain is still coming through it. You can see me taking the picture in this one too!

This is my bed, file cabinet, and closet. There's not really much to say about this shot. I painted the trim around the doors because we had to take it off when we did the drywall work.

Well, this picture is kinda dark. Wow, and that lamp has issues! It's been knocked over a few too many times in the remodeling process.

I guess you can't see the ceiling too well in these pictures, but it is texturized with joint compound. It looks really cool, but is pointy and kind of dangerous if you hit your head on the low angled part of the ceiling. We took paneling off of this end of the room and put in new drywall here too. It was the first part of the room we finished.

Here's another picture of that corner of my room. I hung up the scratch art picture of a leopard that I started 2 summers ago and finished this last summer. I think it's the biggest one I've ever done. And since Jaclyn thinks I should keep some of them, I kept this one since it took so long.

It's very nice to have all of this done, so I can do other things (like go shopping) when I'm home :).

Anyway, I'm going back to school today to get some things done before Monday and to work tomorrow and Friday.

finally!

Ok, I just went upstairs and took some fast, low-quality pictures of my room. They're a little blurry because I didn't want to use flash. Maybe I'll take some more in the morning and see how it looks in that light. Anyway, Lindsey was asking if I had taken these yet . . . so here they are!

Aaaahhh! The upload picture page isn't working! I will try to fix this post . . .
