goings on
Highland Elementary playground
Mammoth Cave, KY
Although we didn't get tickets to go on a tour in the cave itself, we had fun walking around on the pretty much unmarked trails by the river. We saw a Kentucky Warbler on the way down.
We got to a part of the river that usually splits around an island, but this particular side was so dry, there were only puddles. We did see a Northern Waterthrush there though.
Ryan had fun skipping rocks.
We had to walk uphill the whole way back to the visitor center. We jokingly called it the "Buns of Limestone" program offered by Mammoth Cave. I was glad we came back by the main entrance to the cave because about 40 feet from the entrance it was like someone turned on the A/C. The entrance was already barred shut, but we walked in at least that far. We realized that had we gotten to go on a tour, we would have been really cold in shorts!

The question here is who is the bigger kid? I guess that would be Ryan.
Glad you didn't have to go in the cold, bad cave.
