a history lesson on the 4th
The front of the Hermitage. I had a buy-one-get-one-free admission to get in, so we decided to use it. This was almost exactly a year after our last historical tour of the Belle Meade Plantation.
I put this picture on here mainly for dad. The doors are all made of tulip poplar wood, but it didn't look expensive enough, so they faux painted them all to look like mahogany. Click on the picture and see if you can tell. The wood at Belle Meade was the same way, but they made it look like other kinds of wood.
I liked the horses they used to pull the carriage. For $7, you could ride around the grounds with a tour guide. The horse on the left tried to fling drool on me!
The garden was really pretty. We had fun taking pictures of the flowers, bees, and butterflies. The paths lead to Jackson's tomb and the family graveyard.
