playing catch-up

Somehow, it feels like we're in second semester instead of at the midterm of the first quarter. I don't know when I've been more ready for a home leave. It might just be because of the 12-hour Ad Council I was in yesterday, but I'm surely ready for a couple of days off!

I know I've updated my blog since school had started, but it seems like some stuff was missing. Here's my attempt to fill you in on the last couple of weeks, at least. Maybe once I find my CF card, I'll update you on our trip to Collegedale in August.

I just thought these pictures of Chadd and Nikie giving us a golf cart lift to the church were kinda funny. Carson loves riding on the cart. I don't think he understood why I was taking pictures of us though.

With my buddy Carson at the church/school potluck in the gym Sabbath, Aug. 16

One of my duties as Asst. SA herder, I mean sponsor, was to help brainstorm ideas for the Icebreaker. I was quick to add my idea from a book I read while working at MPA about throwing cheese puffs at a team member's face while it's covered in peanut butter. Great idea, right? We substituted the cheese puffs for goldfish, but the effect is still spectacular. (Please, click on the pictures! ) I will add that this backfired on me - I ended up washing a lot of the kids' hair out and had the privilege of cleaning the goggles afterward.

The next weekend of my life was not documented because I really don't think you want to see me throwing up. Enough said. I missed one of my favorite weekends though, class-on-class softball and the fall picnic at ICC. :(

This last Sabbath was fun (and a great improvement over the previous one). After church, we came home and relaxed a while before making lasagna, then banana bread, then whatever else Ryan came up with.

Can you tell how excited I am that fall is coming (along with my semi-annual dental checkup)? Candy corn is back! We snagged some at the Dollar Tree tonight after Taco Bell.

One of our "finds" as we try to decorate and add things to this house was a lamp for $4 (the base) at Walmart tonight. It will eventually live in the guest bedroom because we don't have one that matches for the other end table.

Another update to the living room is this CA hand-me-down that now mostly fills the void above the mantle. If only we could watch DVDs on there . . . We're working on it, hoping a universal remote will switch it to "Video" mode.

I feel like I'm saying "finally" a lot, as if we've been here forever waiting to feel moved in. On some levels this is true, however, with school starting and everything else going on I don't feel that bad. The fact that our mirror was hung a month after the furniture arrived isn't that bad, right? ;)

In our bedroom, I finally hung the picture from Erik and Tara that was their wedding present to us.

It's charcoal, done by an artist while they were in Asia of this picture from when I went to Mt. Vernon to visit Ryan.

Your house looks lovely. It's fun getting settled and it doesn't happen all at once. Wonder if we will ever get your way?
